What is Circuit Training?
Circuit training was first coined as a training method in 1953 by two scientists at Leeds University. R.E. Morgan and G.T. Adamson were searching for a way to develop a more efficient training method for general fitness. They developed a style of training that exposed athletes to several different modalities of exercise in the same session. Since their program was developed, it has gained enormous popularity worldwide.
How We Bring the Circuit to Gloveworx
Like the original circuit training, our program methodology at Gloveworx utilizes several different modalities through boxing circuit training during our Signature Sessions. We use boxing, functional strength, plyometrics, and resistance training to ensure you get the most out of each session.
Our Signature Session is designed give you a great sweat AND build a foundation within our program for you. From that foundation, which develops the core skills you need to reach your goals, you’ll be able to successfully proceed to our other more intense programs (BLITZ and BOOM).
Each of our programs are built to progress in a linear fashion, so you never hit a wall and plateau.
The Focus of a Signature Session
In our boxing and circuit training sessions, our primary focus is your introduction to boxing; and you learn firsthand how to punch and move correctly through mitt-and-bag work. Interspersed with this type of training, there are other areas that we focus on as well, including:
You perform functional strength training, focused on stability, rotation, or anti-rotation to help build punching power.
You need endurance training so you can go the distance in all your Gloveworx sessions. We use three different pieces of cardio equipment—the VersaClimber, Rower, and Bikes—to make sure your training is fun and challenging.
Core is how you finish each session strong to ensure your whole body is built to keep the fight going. Stay stable and powerful with core exercises.
